Jeremy Brett (1933-1995) was a gifted British actor best known for his brilliant portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. During his distinguished 40-year career, however, Mr. Brett's repertoire also included such diverse roles as Bassanio, Robert Browning, Che Guevara, Dracula, and even Dr. Watson.

The Brettish Empire
began in December 1994 as an e-mailed "fanzine"and its website was established in November 1995 as a tribute to Jeremy Brett's life and career.

TBE contains rare photos along with thoroughly researched original content and relevant links and bibliographies. And, although TBE came into being over a decade ago, it's a "living" document, constantly being updated, to help you explore "the Brettish empire"--the world of Jeremy Brett.

TBE may not be the most high-tech or the most "complete" JB site on the web (if I put everything here I won't have anything left for the book. ;->). However,  I've put years of work into TBE to help you learn more about this fascinating actor, in a format that emphasizes content and context over bells and whistles.

But, you don't need a Master's degree in theatre history and two sharpened No. 2 pencils to enter the Brettish empire. All you need is an interest in Jeremy Brett.

Jeremy was an entertainer, and I've tried to tell his story in a manner that's enlightening, engaging and entertaining. TBE has been a voyage of discovery for me, and I hope it will be one for you, also. Enjoy the journey! :)
